When your puppy comes home its very exciting for both you and for them, but you need to know many things
1) You MUST! congratulate them every time they go to the bathroom outside. If you don't and just yell at them everytime they go inside they will be quite confused and upset, that will not be a good start to you relationship with them.
2) Puppies need to be outside alot of the time with supervision. You shouldn't let them be outside alone, when they are small because they could get out of the yard or be in danger of other dogs or coyotes.
3) If you have other pets you must immediately introduce them and lay out the expectations. If it is a small animal you should teach them to be gentle and avoid them and anther dog to be cautious around them until they are bigger.
4) DO NOT WORRY IF YOUR DOG FALLS ASLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME OR PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is perfectly normal. Some dogs (including Cola) will just conk out mid air. Do not worry this is completely normal puppy behavior.
5) You must get your puppy some place to sleep like a crate. You will have to sleep near them for the first few nights because they will howl and whine for their litter mates and mother. You should ignore them for awhile but if they continue gently reassure them by saying "Shh its okay you are a very good girl/boy insert puppies name!
6) Dogs will not automatically recognize their names but eventually if you are still calling them by their name that you chose (eg. "Come Chuck" "Good boy Chuck" etc. ) he will eventually recognize it a s his name.
7) Don't walk or socialize your puppy with other dogs until they have had their parvovirus shots.
8) It get easier! For the first month its difficult to care for all the puppies needs and exercise them enough but they will eventually adjust to their new environment make new friends and most importantly go on walks.
